Wear a Sweater and Turn Down the Heat Tomorrow for National Sweater Day

Don your favourite granny-approved sweater tomorrow and lower the thermostat a few degrees – it’s National Sweater Day!

Remember that sweater you’ve been hiding in the back of your closet? The one your well-meaning granny knitted for you? The really heavy one with the pom-poms, beading, and design of the kittens on the front? Well it’s time to pull it out of hiding and embrace it tomorrow, in support of the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) National Sweater Day.

But it’s not enough to just don your favourite granny-approved sweater tomorrow—you also have to lower the thermostat a few degrees to reduce your environmental footprint and give Mother Nature a helping hand. After all, these chilly winter days make it tempting to crank the heat, contributing to more carbon emissions.

Turning down the heat at home, school, or work may sound simple, but that’s the beauty of it—simple actions such as these really add up. According to the WWF, “If every Canadian lowered the heat a few degrees this winter, it\’d be like taking 300,000 vehicles off the road!” Come on, Canadians, let’s do our part.
