Feb 18: Combatting Misinformation in the Travel Industry

    Free and open to all!

As travel creators, what is our role and responsibility to ensure that the content we push out across our platforms are objective and true?

In late 2016, Oxford Dictionaries chose “post-truth” as the word of the year, defining it as “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.”

Since then, fake news and misinformation has spread at alarming rates and the travel and tourism industry has not been immune to this problem. As travel creators, what is our role and responsibility to ensure that the content we push out across our platforms are objective and true? How do we stay vigilant and ensure we do not contribute to the spread of misinformation? What standards might we need to adopt to ensure that our content is always truthful and valid?

Join Wanderful for a conversation with:

    • Senior Social Media Manager of Condé Nast Traveler, Mercedes Bleth
    • Canadian freelance journalist and founder of New Lens Travel, Jacky Habib
    • Washington Post writer and NYTimes’ inaugural 52 Places Traveler, Jada Yuan

We’ll tackle these difficult questions together and attempt to carve a meaningful – and truthful! – path forward.

This is a FREE event, open to the public. It is an example of a Wanderful event that you otherwise would only find in our member community. Learn more here about becoming a Wanderful member where you’ll have access to daily events like this one all year round + so much more!
